Popsugar Reading Challenge category: A book set on a plane, train, or cruise ship Book: One Last Stop, by Casey McQuiston It's hard to explain a lesbian time-travel romance set on the NYC subway. But it totally works. August has had a weird, isolating upbringing, pulled into her mother's obsessive search for her missing brother (the uncle August was named for but never met). Arriving in NYC, she gains a bunch of quirky roommates; by the end of the first chapter she's contemplating how worried she should be about frog ghosts. Then she spots the mysterious Jane on the subway. In fact, Jane's always in the same car as August on the subway. Jane turns out to be an unwilling time traveler from 1977, somehow tethered to the subway line and unable to leave it. Her memory is spotty, except when stimulated by familiar smells, tastes, etc. So as August tries to help her unravel the mystery of her past, they start kissing for, um, "research." Naturally, Jane's memories are also the key to solving the disappearance of August's uncle Augie. August and her friends devise an epic plan to free Jane from the subway. But will it free her to be with August - or send her back to her own time? And because it's a Casey McQuiston book, it's very funny, joyful, and (considering the setting) surprisingly sexy.
